Social Infomatics Research Unit SIRU
I am fortunate to work in the Sociology Department at the University of York and to be associated with the very new and digitally innovative research unit that we have here.
Social Informatics is the critical social scientific study of information and communication technologies (ICTS). SIRU is concerned with some of the big over-arching macro-sociological The main focus of work is focussed: community informatics, cultural informatics, health informatics, political informatics and spatial informatics.
SIRU is also the editorial base for the internationally acclaimed journal Information, Communication and Society (ICS) ed Brian Loader.
eSociety
The eSociety is based at York University. It is the largest ever academic research led programme. Research focus is on the impact of digital technologies on society. A more than formative research base for policy makers and industry to be aware of the demands of the 'new eCitizen'.
